Esquire: Best Dressed Real Man

I have never been a fan of Esquire's Best Dressed Real Man competition. However, Dan T. who is one of this year's finalist, may have just change my mind.

One thing that I must find out: How does a 22 year old student afford such great clothes?! Well done. Check out his blog at http://www.mensstyleblog.blogspot.com/

Club Tie Project - Part 1

The wife of a dear friend who passed away two years ago was kind enough to give me these two ties that her husband had worn for many years. I plan on taking them to my local tailor so that he can take them in one inch. Hopefully, I can wear them with the style that her husband once did.

Jeans under $100

If you think that you need to spend $200-$300 on a pair of Seven or Rock & Republic jeans to look good, think again. GQ is not usually known for showcasing clothing that is actually affordable for the vast majority of men, but their Best Jeans Under $100 on-line article is a pleasant departure. Appropriate for these lean times.

Knit Ties

"It goes as well with an oxford shirt and a pair of jeans as it does with a slim gray flannel suit. And it’s seasonless; carry it into spring and rock it with a cool khaki suit" - GQ

Further convincing should not be required...

Levi's 501 jeans at Club Monaco

Despite numerous attempts, I have never been able to find a pair of Levi's 501 jeans that fit me well...until I found a pair at Club Monaco in Montreal, and I bought two pairs to mark the occasion.

Mad Men

Not only is AMC's Mad Men one of the most intelligently written television shows on air, its wardrobe is second to none.

Bow Ties

Aim for this...

...not this

And please, no clip-on or "ready-tied" numbers, take the time to learn how to tie a bow tie yourself. At the end of a long night you'll look as good with it hanging from your neck as when it was neatly tied under your chin.

Let Mr. O'brien (aka the Style Guy) show you how it is done:

Automatic Watches

Omega Seamaster

Rolex Submariner

Audemars Piguet Royal Oak

Tag Heuer Monaco

Panerai Luminor Marina

IWC Big Pilot

They cost more money, require expensive maintenance and they are LESS accurate than a $25 quartz Casio...but the appeal of an automatic watch cannot be measured with dollars and cents.
